Standard AERO Braid In Braid Programme (BIB)
Most companies create their own fillers by using UD roving and put a lot of work in twisting them with the correct number of twists.
Then the filler is placed into the preform.
Generally this type is not consistent in the number of twists and the drapability is poor.
Eurocarbon has developed a Aero grade carbon fibre filler which is consistent off the shelf. The properties will remain, despite the amount of handling.
This will provide more time to focus on more inportant positoning of important parts in your preform.
How to select the apropriate filler.
In addition to our UD filler Programme we develloped a special filler type which consists out of a fully braided solution.
If your product doesn't contain UD fibres at all, the BIB filler is the right choise. A UD filler in this case could give stresses in a non UD component.
The BIB consist out of multiple braids, braided simultaniously on a special production line with a maximum of 7 chained braiding machines.
Due to this fully braided solution, the fibres are spiralling around the filler and therefore not alligned in UD direction.
The BIB filler is rather flexible and is adaptable to different cross-sectional shapes and can be draped into curved sections quite easily.
How to select the apropriate filler cross-section.
First determine you surface area of the gap to be filled in your component. If you know the bending radius, table 1 can be used to determine your required surface area.
