Standard Programme Aramid Flatbraids
Why using flatbraids?
Flatbraids are single wall briaded tapes. The fiber orientation is +/- 45 degrees and this provides the following advantages:
- Able to handle torsional loads.
- Well drapable around curved contours, without buckling of the fibres. The braid adapts itself by changing the angle locally.
- Braided structure resists crack propagation.
The aramid material itself has the following advantages:
- High tensile strength: Strong and light, 5 times strongter than steel.
- Fatigue resistance: Lottle soss of strength during repeated abrasion, flexing and stretching.
- Dimenional stability: Stiff and highly oriented molecular structure leads to a high modulus of elasticity, low creep and low stress relaxation.
Low thermal shrinkage, i.e. excellent dimensional stability.
Applications:
- Reïnforcing radial connections .
- Bonding canoo shells and provide impact resistance in several parts.
- Reïnforcement for pulltrusion profiles.
- Applications for abbrasive wear.
- General composite applications.
